A bit about us. Keokee is in Sandpoint, Idaho, about 60 miles from the Canadian border. It’s gorgeous here, in the frontal ranges of the Rocky Mountains with 43-mile-long Lake Pend Oreille out the front door and Schweitzer ski resort out back. Keokee was founded in 1990 by Chris Bessler, a former newspaper and magazine editor. Our staff includes eight full-time and two part-time personnel. Keokee factoid. On a trek of discovery one summer, some of us bushwhacked into Keokee Lake, in a cirque below Keokee Mountain. It’s one of those beautiful alpine tarns scoured out of the Selkirk Mountains by glaciers during the last ice age. After a sweaty hike in, the lake made for a nice cool dip. And that’s when we found it was populated by an army of … frogs. They were everywhere. It was amazing.
And we did see a few butterflies. But that’s another story. ««|
