Social media roaring ahead in 2013

Here’s a 4-minute long update on social media trends and statistics from Erik Qualman, author of Socialnomics, and Hult International Business School. A few key takeaways:

  • Social media has become the No. 1 activity on the web
  • 92% of children under age of 2 have a “digital shadow”
  • 54% of people on Twitter recommend products in their tweets
  • 90% of consumers trust peer recommendations; only 14% trust advertisements
  • 93% of marketers use social media for business

Is your business on social media? Do you know what people are saying online about your brand? One thing for sure: Whether or not YOU are  engaged, YOUR CUSTOMERS almost certainly are.

P.S. Guess how I found this video today? Via Twitter!

My biggest takeaways include a few of yours plus these:
      – Half the world’s population is under 30 years of age – this marks the largest generation shift of all time and these individuals are dialed into technology.
      – YouTube is the 2nd most used Search Engine – As for marketing goes, why not have some branded content on this widely used tool.
      – You do not have to search for information, information will find you! – If you don’t understand this, ask Katie because I can guarantee her and the team of marketing experts at Keokee will have you covered!

Very pleased you shared this video. I have seen everyone since 2009 when I started at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota. Did you know? is another popular series our professors would try to encourage us to think big with. Here’s a link to one of them, although it’s years old it is still super interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv8pmIr3a7k
